Students and staff were celebrating at Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College with the release of the A Level results today. Everyone at the Academy is extremely proud of this year’s students and their results. These are a reflection of their hard work and determination to succeed and have resulted in a 100% pass rate in both A Level and L3 Vocational qualifications. Alan Warboys, Principal at Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College, commented, “Whilst I have only been at the Academy a short space of time, I am really thrilled with this set of results. I know that our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these outcomes. The achievements made by our students this year are fantastic. An impressive 21% of all results achieved are A* and A grades with 54% of our students achieving grades at either A*, A or B and 83% of our students achieving A*- C grades.” He added, “This year’s results also show an increase in both the average points score per student and per entry for both A Level and vocational qualifications, continuing the improving trend in individual student achievement.”

Students have achieved well across all ability ranges with many exceptional performances being celebrated by Ossett’s outgoing Year 13. Leading the way were Bhavin Patel (2A*/ 2A /1B); Matthew Smith (2A*/1A); Molly Johnson (1A*/2A); Arran Williamson (2A*/B); Charlie Adams (1A*/A/B); Georgina Bunney (1A*/1A/B); Abby Etchells (1A*/1A/1B); Abby Hyde (1A*/1A/1B/1C) and Aidan Stephenson (1A*/1A/B). Also achieving straight A grades were, Charlotte Haigh (3A), Abigail Redmond (3A) and Hannah Mullen (4A). In addition, cementing these widespread improvements 38% of our BTEC L3 vocational students achieved D*D*D* (equivalent to 3 A* grades), 16% D*D* (equivalent to 2 A* grades) and 18% D* (1 A* equivalent).

Finally, Mr. Warboys commented, “With such fantastic results, many students have exciting times ahead as they now anticipate the start of their university careers, apprenticeships or jobs of their choice. We wish all our students every success in the future. I would also like to thank the staff at the Academy for their hard work, dedication and expertise in supporting our students to achieve their very best. We now await with anticipation the news of their undoubted future success.”
